HSK Grammar Words

The HSK 3.0 grammar outline names 461 words that carry grammar rather than content: particles like 了 (le), measure words, modal verbs, question words, and the adverbs and conjunctions that link clauses. Each is listed under the HSK level whose grammar introduces it, which is sometimes lower than the level of the word itself.

These words are small and frequent, so they are easy to recognise and hard to use. Knowing that 把 (bǎ) is a preposition does not tell you where it goes in the sentence; learn each one inside a sentence you can say, not as a gloss.
